biography
Leanne Wilkins Press Photo

Since 1998, Leanne has captured diverse audiences with her heart-felt lyrics and soulful melodies. Her songs convey a prominent element of honesty, multiplying the depth of emotion behind her lyrics that pulls the heartstrings of listeners. Often drawing upon her own life experiences, her songwriting expresses her visions on love, relationships, and life as a twenty-something.

Leanne discovered her passion for music at the age of four, and she devoted her childhood to studying piano. When she began playing guitar at age 16, however, she discovered that her heart was synchronous with the rhythm of acoustic rock music. Over the years, her style has been infused with elements of Americana, folk and blues.

Leanne’s haunting vocals are reminiscent of female artists such as Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Merchant. Influences including Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Kathleen Edwards and Jonatha Brooke also create subtle undertones in her music.

Leanne regularly performs both as a solo artist and with a band in the greater Seattle area. Her first studio album Waterwheel, recorded at the Track Shack in Seattle, Washington, was released in May 2008. The album includes 12 songs she wrote over the span of a decade, revisiting wistful pop songs written in her late teens (Surrender, Into Oblivion), and concluding with her more recent songwriting explorations in Americana and roots rock (Earth Meets Sky, Why Didn’t I). The album is available for purchase online through CD Baby, and tracks may be downloaded through iTunes and a variety of other distributors.
